Noçesh Writing
From Sedes Draconis
The Noçesh language is written in both the Kedan and Sêrela writing systems. Neither does an especially good job of representing the sounds of Noçesh.
Sêrela writing does a particularly poor job of representing the sounds of other languages, but it has been in use by the Noçesh for much longer than Kedan. A long-standing adapted verison of the Sêrela script is considered the most official and prestigious way to write the language.
One of the most significant alterations is Noçesh uses the same Sêrela letter for certain pairs of sounds (or in one case for three seperate sounds), distinguished by an adaptation of the Sêrela tone marking. This disambiguation, generally speaking, only operates on syllable initial consonants, due to the structure of Sêrela writing.
When transcribing Noçesh words on this site, I will use the transliteration of the Sêrela spelling. I will however transliterate as if all ambiguous letters were marked for ease and completeness.
