Incredibly, the enormous gêbkire is a not too distant relative of the gadla. They are found in the Yari savanna, with closely related (though smaller) species throughout the savannas of the Hajasith. They are also related to the tiasil of the Silver Wood and Elfholt, and the kemdaro of the boreal forests.
Gêbkire are the largest land animal of the Hajasith. A female gêbkire is about 4.75 meter tall, 4.5 meters long and weighs around 13 tons. Males often stand a full 5.25 meters tall, and 5 meters long, and weigh 16 tons. Gêbkire often feed on the upper branches of trees other animals cannot reach.
Gêbkire are hunted by Garaban trolls, and sometimes by other inhabitants of the Yari. A slain gêbkire can provide large quantities of meat and very tough leather.
Goblins occaisionally manage to tame and keep (though never domesticate) a small number of gêbkire. To be tamed, a gêbkire calf must be captured younger than a year old, and it is not easy to extract a calf from its family group. Gêbkire are quite dangerous, and even tamed gêbkire can do great damage to people or buildings if distressed. Tame gêbkire provide unmatched muscle power as draft animals.
