Garaban/Language
From Sedes Draconis
Garaban is potentially still under revision.
Here's a sample (subject to change):
You'll notice some 'p's in here, that get turned to 'bk's in the translation. Since Garaban is mostly unwritten, I don't usual bother to write it fully in accord with my normal transliteration of Kedan. But I have kept the translated names in Kedan transliteration.
- igi vado atlu gapuru êrvelêdo iitlêna.
- >(1p-pl) spearmen (oblique-indef-pl) gêpire-pl hunt-future tomorrowly.<
- Tomorrow, we spearmen will hunt gêbkire.
- koga Uhaano, koga urvada, êyigi arurtane.
- >(1p-sing) Uhaano, (1p-sing) spearleader, (oblique-1p-pl) lead-future<
- I, Uhaano, the spearleader, will lead us.
- ngu gapuru gagaba yuurgo êyigi vado arganduuyê uchee.
- >(def-pl) gêpire-pl great strong (1p-pl) spearmen fell-future passive.<
- The gêbkire, great and strong, will be felled by our spearmen.
- itul gapuru dlêvelêdo tlu juulodo dlêyiya sikêrêtye. artumboochê ayuchu.
- >When-action gêpire hunt-contin (indef-pl) shields is useless. have-future-not (oblique-obviate-pl).<
- Shields are useless for hunting gêbkire. Do not bring them.
- arpoltê êyetê vêdê and-noun atlu sovolo dlo.
- >Have-future (oblique-indef-sing) spear and-noun (oblique-indef-pl) javelins three.<
- (You) should have a spear and three javelins.
And because I once told Jonathana Tegire that the following phrases should be included in all phrasebooks, here's the Garaban for:
- I am he that dreams.
- koga mbunora.
- The skies speak to me.
- ngi inderi ope akoga dlayuuparê.
- Can you sing?
- ka dlapaayuupare?
