Dolicocephalinae/Notes
From Sedes Draconis
Earth Analogues
Nomenclature
The subfamily name "Dolicocephaline" is derivative of the term "dolicocephalic", a term sometimes used in physical anthropology in the context of the Cephalic Index used for classify headshapes among humans and human remains. Though I have borrowed the root construction for the term, my use is completely seperate from the use of the original term. The cephalic index is somewhat controversial (having been used by racial, and racist, anthropology in the 20th century), and my use of a derviative term does not constitute a comment one way or another on the cephalic index as a tool in physical anthropology.
In the cephalic index, "dolicocephalic" is contrasted to "brachycephalic" (short-headed). In Sedes Draconis, the dolicocephalines are in contrast to the eurycephalines (wide-heads), the width being more important to the evolutionary differences between the two groups.

Please note that a "pair-bond" is not some kind of mystical soul-mate thing. It is a physiological response to the courtship process, similar to that in humans (Earthly and otherwise), but stronger and more tied to overall development. If you want to get crude about it, it is essentially an addiction to an individual.
